Gregory’s most convincing lie

I broke a plate on the kitchen floor.
Gregory was sitting at the table eating peanut butter off a spoon.

Mommy – “don’t go in the kitchen.”

Hear the clunk of a spoon going into the kitchen sink.

Mommy – “Gregory did you go in the kitchen?”

Gregory – “No”

Mommy – “That is a lie. Go to the corner.”

Gregory – “I didn’t go in the kitchen.”

Mommy – “Well then how did you get your spoon in the sink?”

Gregory – “I’ve got a gadget arm.”

Mommy – “Gregory don’t lie to me.”

Gregory – “I didn’t.”

Mommy – “Well show me how you did it.”

Gregory – went to the edge of the kitchen. “I used my gadget arm and put it in the sink.”

Mommy – “You did not that is a lie, you went in the kitchen.”

Gregory – Cries

Mommy – “Tell me the truth. Did you go in the kitchen?”

Gregory – “Yes.”

He finally told the truth, but his lie made me laugh after I walked away. I guess the show inspector gadget really has put ideas in his head.

My ex-future son-in-law always says to me, when I pull something unexpected (lint roller, flashlight, etc.) out of my bag, "Go, go gadget Mom!"

Go, go Gadget-Gregory!

Its amazing how easily kids absorb stuff they are exposed to, via tv and books etc. It makes you realise that it might actually be important to know what they're watching!
