Baby Signing
Well, I have been trying to do sign language with Gregory for awhile. Don’t laugh. I can see some. I don’t know I just like the idea. It took him nine months to pick up bye-bye, so I figure, I don’t know. Well, I have been doing these different signs and I think Gregory has his own plan. He has made up his own signs. Pounding on his high chair means he wants more food. Pounding on his toy box means he wants me to open it so he can play. Pounding on my leg means pick me up. Pounding on my chest means nurse me. Well, you get the picture. Gregory has made the discovery of the more noise you make, the more attention you get, and the more attention you get means you usually get what you want. Or he may know the signs and has decided that they don’t work, because mommy is blind and he has decided his signs need to be auditory. If he has discovered this he is a smart one. Well, that or he just likes to make noise. It is exciting to see how much Gregory has grown not only length and weight, but also his learning growth.

Bye Bye
Gregory waved bye bye yesterday. I think it was the first time, but who knows because I am blind. So lets just say yesterday was the first time he waved bye bye.

Tooth Number Four
I guess they come in pairs. Gregory’s fourth tooth popped through today. Now he has two on the top and two on the bottom. It is so exciting. I know some of you are wondering if it hurts to nurse him and no it doesn’t. It feels just the same. It would hurt if he bit, but he has been great so far and we haven’t run into that problem. I am just hoping it will stay that way. There is always something new happening with Gregory.
Oh and the diapers are working out great. I think he likes them better. I guess I will have to ask him in the morning. Smiles!

Cloth Diapers
Before I gave birth to Gregory I thought, cloth diapers no way. Nine months later and I have now made the switch to cloth. Well, not totally. When I go on trips and when I leave Gregory with a baby sitter I will use disposables. My diaper of choice is the Bum Genius. The Bum Genius is a pocket diaper, which means it has a pocket in which you can stuff it with the insert of your choice. It uses Velcro like disposables. There are other pocket diapers, but I liked the Bum Genius the best because it is a one size diaper that can fit babies from 6 pounds to 35 pounds. It is a better deal financially. One reason I did not use cloth in the beginning was because I did not know about all the options. The only kind of cloth diaper I knew about was the prefold and I was not about to try to figure out that. Another reason I liked the Bum Genius was because the Suedecloth inner pulls moisture to the insert and keeps the baby's bottom dry, like a disposable diaper.
I have been very interested in cloth diapers for the past two months, but haven’t said anything because I did not want people thinking I was crazy. Well, because of this I have done some research. I learned a lot, but I am not in the mood to list all of the benefits. If you want to know the benefits just Google the benefits of cloth diapers and you will find tons of information. Two of which are health reasons and money savings.
Anyway, yeah you have to dump poop in the toilet, but after changing I don’t know how many hundred diapers poop isn’t that bad anymore. Poop=OK.
Well, I also got three wet bags, one big for all the diapers at home, one medium for the diaper bag, and one small for the washcloths that work like baby wipes. Oh everything is so cute the big bag has frogs on it, the medium has smiley faces, and the small bag has blue squares on it. The big and medium bags came with a cloth square that stays in the bag that I can put scented oil on. I put lavender. I love the lavender sent.
I bought twelve diapers, four yellow, four green, and four blue. Oh pretty diapers! I almost forgot! I also bought a swim diaper! So thirteen diapers. The swim diaper is red.
Well now you know what I have been obsessing over. Oh yeah the woman who runs the shop we got the diapers from also sells shoes. I could not resist I got Gregory a new pair of shoes. He needed a pair. We did not have any shoes that he could wear. He can not walk or crawl in the hard bottom shoes. The shoes we picked out were soft bottomed, but they had a rubber sole. So, they are great for out doors. Oh if you want to check out the store go to www.abbyslane.com. The woman who runs the shop lives ten minutes away, so she let us come over and look at everything before we made a decision. It was great. You know I feel a little crazy because cloth diapers are not the norm, but I know I am doing what is best for my baby and bank account.

Skinny Boy
Well the doctor told us to fatten him up. She said that he could now have the food the way we eat it. I mean with all the spices. He still can not have milk, honey, or peanuts. Gregory is 29 ¾ inches long, weighs 19 pounds 9 ounces, and has an 18 inch head. His length is in the 95th percentile and his weight is in the 30th percentile. He is my little green bean. Today he had a test to see if he was anemic and he is not. He also got a flu shot. I don’t like flu shots, but I guess it is for the best. His next appointment is his twelve month appointment. Wow, time sure does fly fast.

Tooth Number Three
Well today Gregory is 9 months old. We went to a playgroup and had a blast. Gregory has a little girlfriend there who was born on the same day as he was. Yesterday, Gregory’s third tooth came through. It is on the top left. I knew it was coming in soon because he had been a little cranky and drooling quite a bit. I give him ice to help with his teething I put it in a bag with a handle that has holes. He can get the water from the ice too with it. I can also put in fruit for him to suck on if I want, but ice is less messy. Gregory’s next appointment is tomorrow so I will let you know how that goes. Well, he is napping now and I want to do a few more things before he wakes up. So, watch for the information on his appointment tomorrow.

I’ve got the best man!
Well Cullen’s best friend Shane got married Saturday and Cullen was the best man at their wedding. The wedding was nice. It was a short ceremony and right to the point. The reception was in a beach club. Everyone got to mingle. Congratulations again Shane and Kristina! Cullen and I drove to Charlottesville the day before and stayed at a hotel. It would have been too crazy to drive to and from Charlottesville twice. For the rehearsal Shane had all his Groomsmen wear pink shirts. My pretty husband looked lovely. Oh yeah Gregory was sooo cute. I had him in a little olive green suit for the wedding. Everyone just loved him, but I knew they would.
It was Cullen’s first Father’s Day. He does deserve this day because he is such a good father.
I saw my Grandparents and Dad this Father’s Day. They flew in late on Saturday. It was so good to see them. And of course they loved Gregory. Well, I am so tired so off to bed I go.

Trips
Today Cullen came home from work and we went out to Toys R Us, to get diaper pins to help keep up his shorts, and the grocery store, for food. It was getting to be around 7 pm when we finally made it to the grocery store, Gregory’s bed time. So naturally Gregory fell asleep. Well, we took out the shopping cart floppy seat and put him in that lying down with his feet sticking up. It must have been cozy enough, because he slept through all but five minutes of the shopping trip. Well it is easy for Gregory to fall asleep when we don’t need him to. When we got home and I put him in his crib he was up for like 30 minutes babbling dada dada, when Cullen shut the front door to hard, and mama mama, when Gregory finally decided dada was not coming up to see him. Which would not have been a good idea because dada only makes Gregory excited and giggly. I just love it when Gregory is excited and giggly, but not when it is bed time. Also, dada has a very hard time putting Gregory to bed because all Gregory does is laugh at his dada. Well he is sleeping now.
I love watching Gregory sleep!
Oh yeah and we went up to Maryland and saw Cullen’s Grandma, Aunt Michelle, Aunt Carol, Uncle Mike, and Mom. It was a nice trip and I think everyone enjoyed Gregory. We went to eat at the Olive Garden and our food took quite a while getting to us. Uncle Mike said Gregory was not fussy enough, so they had no reason to get us our food. LOL. I don’t mind when people complain about Gregory being good.
Smiles to all!

Summer Plans
So much has happened since Memorial Day. My Dad, Kathy, and Kristen now are moved into a place in Virginia. My mom flew in for a visit, but now is gone. And we went to the Manassas Train Festival. I like the house my dad is renting. It will be nice to visit more on a regular basis instead of just once a year. It was also nice to see my mom. She got Gregory some cute outfits, overalls, which I just love! We also went to the Manassas Train Festival. That was so much fun. We saw so many model trains. My favorite was the Lego train. At the Train Festival we walked through a caboose. Cullen’s mom flew in and is staying in Maryland. We will probably see her on Saturday. Then Friday the 16th Cullen and I drive down to Charlottesville for Cullen’s friend Shane’s wedding which takes place on Saturday the 17th. The 17th is also Samantha’s 1st birthday which I will be regretfully missing, because of Shane’s wedding. And my grandparents fly in around this time. After a few days to myself I fly to Idaho on July 14 for my sister’s wedding, fly back on the 24th. When I get back Cullen’s parents should be in town. So, I think it won’t be until mid August till my schedule is free again. You know what they say keeping busy is good for a person, but taking time to yourself is important. One thing is for sure, I will have plenty to write about.
